The true source for your free credit report.

The true free credit report site.

It’s been five years since the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) was passed, giving Americans free access to their credit report from the three major credit reporting agencies.

Some members are confused, however, as to where they can get their free report.

Perhaps you’ve seen the advertising from “FreeCreditReport.com,” with their catchy jingle and appearance of truly being “free.” Don’t believe it. First New York FCU’s site says going through that site could cost you $80 when they sign you up for a credit-monitoring service.

The true, official place to get your free annual credit report? Write this down…bookmark it in your browser…whatever:

AnnualCreditReport.com

Notice no mention of “free” in the web address. This is the official sanctioned site from Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. The three agencies try to get you to sign up for extra features for a price, but you don’t have to accept them. Finding your way to your free report is pretty easy – and mighty helpful.

You also have access to the phone number: 877-322-8228.
