Chelsea Supermarket Sweep a hit

Chelsea Branch\'s grand opening

We celebrated two big events on Wednesday: both our Chelsea Branch’s grand opening, and the first Chelsea Supermarket Sweep at Country Market.

Above, our president/CEO Dave Puckett (far left) and Sharon Hayes, Chelsea’s branch manager, clip the ribbon thanks to the Chelsea Chamber of Commerce.

Here are a few more photos from the day.

American 1\'s Supermarket Sweep team

Our own Supermarket team, featuring Chris, Wendy, and Tina. They look ready, don’t they?

On your mark...get set...

Twelve teams competed in the Supermarket Sweep, benefitting Faith in Action’s food bank. Here they get ready to start the sweep. Teams raced around Country Market for five minutes collecting as many marked food items as they could.

Lookout, shoppers!

Shoppers had to be on the lookout for teams racing around the store. Love the costume! All team members had to keep one hand on the cart during the sweep.

First place team Chelsea Milling

Chelsea Milling was the first-place team during the Supermarket Sweep. Common Grill earned second, American 1’s team earned third, and the Chelsea Kiwanis Club took the “Wobbly Wheel” award (which we won in Jackson).

All 12 teams

The 12 teams collected more than 530 items worth almost $1,400 – all donated by Chelsea’s Country Market, and all of it going to the Faith in Action food bank.

Loading the truck after the sweep

Afterward, we filled Doug Smith’s (of Faith in Action) truck.

All the teams had a blast, and it was a fun way to celebrate our Chelsea Branch’s grand opening. Thanks to Country Market for letting us plow through the store at top speed, and thanks to all the patient shoppers who let us zoom past!
