Learn more about your fuel mileage

Wondering how many miles per gallon your car, truck, SUV, or van earns in fuel economy?

The federal government has a handy comparison at FuelEconomy.gov, where you can pick your year, make, and model of vehicle and see a breakdown of city and highway mileage. The site lets you compare your vehicle side-by-side to other vehicles, too, which is handy for car shopping.

And hey, why not take a look at what the best and worst vehicles are in terms of fuel mileage? Most of the worst include names models from Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Bentley (although, if you can afford one of those, you can probably afford all the gas they need).

You can also view your vehicle’s annual petroleum consumption, carbon footprint, and fuel costs over a year. Many people can use this information to determine whether they qualify for the Car Allowance Rebate System (CARS), or the “Cash for Clunkers” program.
