American 1 CU Supported Many Christmas Charities

JACKSON, Mich. – American 1 Credit Union is dedicated to the communities they serve and feel strongly about giving back.  American 1 supported many people and charities this Christmas season including forty-one soldiers, two adopted families, and fifteen homeless teens.

American 1 Credit Union adopted two units of soldiers for Christmas.  Staff members donated money and filled boxes.  Forty-one boxes were filled and sent to soldiers overseas.  American 1 took care of all of the shipping costs of these boxes.  We also coordinated the decorating of 600 Christmas cards by students at Townsend Elementary in Vandercook, MI.  The cards were sent to troops overseas in hopes to make sure as many soldiers as possible received at least a card for Christmas.

American 1 also adopted two National Guard families.  One family was from Jackson county and one was from Washtenaw county.  We provided each family with necessary cold weather items such as boots, coats, sweaters, etc.  We also were able to provide each family with a gas card. Our Home Office location in Jackson did a coin drive to raise money to purchase consumers energy gift certificates as well to the Jackson family.

Do’chas II is a shelter for homeless teens in Jackson.  We were able to gather a “wish list” from fifteen teens for Christmas and purchase them several gifts each.

“We appreciate the opportunity to help those in need, especially at Christmas time.  Our staff and our membership really know how to pull together and make a difference,” said Jayme Bicknell, Event Coordinator for American 1 Credit Union.

Today American 1 Credit Union has been providing low-cost financial services to more than 50,000 members and several hundred partner companies. American 1 Credit Union serves Jackson, Calhoun, Washtenaw, Hillsdale, Oakland, Macomb, and Wayne Counties. Visit www.american1cu.org for more information.
