Paws & Claws Expo - Dolled up

It’s ruff (ha!) being a pet fashion show model: all that attention and scratches behind the ear.

But our doggie models strutted their stuff down the cat (dog?) walk during Saturday’s fashion show at the Paws & Claws Expo. Check out all the pictures from the event at our Flickr gallery.

And thanks to everyone who came out to support these great pets and the Cascades Humane Society.

Paws & Claws Expo pet fashion show

Check out our first-ever pet fashion show at this year’s Paws & Claws Expo. One cat, one chihuahua, and plenty of beagles – they are all looking sharp.

You can see photos of the event on our Flickr page.

Famous pet quotes

Our Paws & Claws Expo takes place this weekend, so to get ready for the big day we’re going to share some famous (and funny) pet-inspired quotes. Here’s one that’s applicable to the news:

My dog is worried about the economy because Alpo is up to $3.00 a can. That’s almost $21.00 in dog money. -Joe Weinstein

I’ve always thought cats have their own…unique personality. Maybe this explains why:

Thousands of years ago, cats were worshipped as gods. Cats have never forgotten this. -Anonymous

Cats are friendly, sure, but can they come even close to dogs?

If a dog jumps into your lap it is because he is fond of you; but if a cat does the same thing it is because your lap is warmer. – A. N. Whitehead

Finally, our relationship with our pets depends on the type of pet and their attitude toward you:

In order to keep a true perspective of one’s importance, everyone should have a dog that will worship him and a cat that will ignore him. – Dereke Bruce

See you at the pet expo Saturday!

In the end, the kittens were too much for him.

Actually, it’s our downtown Jackson scarecrow for Scarecrow Row, going on this fall. The kittens are on sale at our branches to support the Cascades Humane Society and the Paws & Claws Expo. Grab one for $5!

UPDATE: look for our mad scientist scarecrow right in front of City Hall in downtown Jackson!
