Membership referral wins woman $500 in gas

Our first $500 gas card winner of 2008, Heather, almost didn’t win.

That’s because it took a casual glance at a membership referral card, sitting on a desk, to get her to enter to win. Heather was with her dad at our Vandercook Branch, helping him with his vehicle loan, when she spotted the referral card.

She asked if she was eligible for the referral, and Shandi, a Member Service Specialist, said she was. So she filled out the card.

It’s a good thing she did, because the few seconds it took to complete the entry won Heather a $500 gas card.

“I have no luck,” she says. “I didn’t think I had a chance.”

Heather says the $500 worth of gas couldn’t come at a better time, now that she has to make trips to the hospital to visit family.

“We can definitely use it now,” Heather, from Jerome, says.

You, too, can enter to win $500 by referring a friend or family member. We’re drawing a new winner each month, plus we’re donating $2 to a local green group for every referral. Drop by any branch to pick up a referral card, or download one off our GreenBack page.

Fall sale starts tomorrow.

Tomorrow our Fall Used Vehicle Sale kicks off at Sears. These sales are big events for us, and no one does a car sale like American 1.

To prepare, we’ve kicked off our Simple Loan plan. Plus we’re having two chances to win a $500 gas card, for up to $1,000 in gas. Who can’t use that these days?

A few things to keep in mind if you’re heading to the sale:

  • Get pre-approved – it saves a bunch of time when you’re ready to finance
  • Test drive it – just to make sure you like it
  • Trade-ins are welcome – so bring what you have
  • Even if you’re not “in the market,” stop by the sale – we’ve got tons of food and prize giveaways
  • Warm up your hands – you’ll need them for our famous Cash Vault (we bought a new one!)
  • Bring the whole family – we’ll keep the kids entertained
  • Complete your Simple Loan plan – and watch how easy the sale goes when you get there

We’ll see you Friday and Saturday at the sale!

$500 gas cards return for ‘GreenBack’ campaign

In 2007, we drove our membership campaign with $500 gas cards – one given out every month to members who referred friends and family.

Well it’s back. We’re giving away one $500 gas card per month, from August to December 2008, to one lucky member who made a referral.

We’re calling the campaign “GreenBack.” What does it involve?

For one, there’s the gas card drawing. Download a referral card or pick one up at any branch, and get a friend or family member to join, and you’re entered to win.

Second, for each new member that joins American 1, we’re going to donate $2 to a local non-profit or organization that works to spread the good word about recycling, natural resources, or the environment. A different “green” group will be selected each month, and the more members that join American 1, the more “greebacks” they get.

Along with our membership drive, we’re going to work hard to green up our act, including recycling at our branches, cut down on resource costs and usage, and educate members and employees on responsible waste and energy management. Why? Simple: to reduce our impact. To leave this place a bit better than we found it. And to help local organizations that are doing hard work in the areas of recycling and the environment.

We’re rolling out GreenBack, so be sure to check back here and on our GreenBack page (the link is on the tab above, next to “About Us”) for updates, information, and money- and energy-saving tips.

American 1 is giving a little green back, both in terms of money and effort. We’re excited about the project, and we hope you can help.

Meet our $1,000 gas card winner

Ricky wins our $1,000 gas card

Meet Ricky R., American 1’s $1,000 gas card winner from this past weekend’s car sale.

Ricky financed a 1997 Ford Econoline van at the sale, earning him an automatic $100 gas card. But $1,000 worth of gas cards on top of that? “That’s cool,” Ricky, a Jackson member since 1995, says.

Ricky was looking to get a new vehicle at the sale after he heard about it from our Home Office staff.

How long will $1,000 worth of gas last him?

“The way I drive?” Ricky says. “About a month.”

Congratulations Ricky!
