Meet Sharon, our May Lugnuts tickets winner

Sharon wins Lugnuts tickets

Congratulations to Sharon Furman of Grass Lake. She’s our May 2009 membership drawing winner, earning four Lansing Lugnuts box seats and a few food vouchers.

Sharon referred her son, Michael, to American 1 after he quit his former bank.

“I told him, ‘It’s great – it’s where I like to go,'” Sharon said of American 1.

There’s one more month left in our Lugnuts referral prize drawing. Earn your chance to win Lugnuts tickets when you refer a new member in June.

February membership winner

February 2009 membership winner

Marina B. of Jackson referred her son to American 1 to open up a membership in February. For that, Marina wins our Pistons ticket package: four Detroit Pistons tickets, free snacks, free parking, and a picture down on the basketball court.

Marina is treating her brother and family to the game.

Thanks for referring a new member, Marina!

November gas card winner refers co-worker

Kathy P. of Quincy read about American 1’s membership campaign in her newsletter. She referred one of her co-workers at Randall Food Products in Tekonsha, MI, and then didn’t think much about it.

But then we called and let her know that one referral won her $500 worth of gas cards.

“It was a fluke,” Kathy says. “I just skimmed through the newsletter. I was amazed – I never win anything.”

Like many members before her, Kathy was skeptical when she found out she won.

“I wondered, ‘what’s the stipulation?'” she says.

There’s no stipulation – Kathy already did her part by referring a new member to American 1.

December is the last month you can qualify to win a $500 gas card. Find out more on our GreenBack membership campaign page.

$500 gas card winner had three entries

This month, Alan C. of Jackson learned that the old adage, “three times the charm,” really holds up.

That’s because, after referring his three kids, Alan is American 1’s September $500 gas card winner.

When Alan was opening new membership accounts for his three kids last month, Kristen Lewis at our Argyle Branch filled out the GreenBack referral cards for each child. Those three entries obviously improved his chances of winning.

“What are the chances of winning something like this, even with three entries?” Alan asks. “I sure didn’t expect it.”

The gas cards will “help considerably,” Alan says, no matter how many highs or lows the price of gas experiences.

Congratulations to Alan. There are just a few more months left in our membership referral contest. Visit our GreenBack page to learn more!

Membership referral wins woman $500 in gas

Our first $500 gas card winner of 2008, Heather, almost didn’t win.

That’s because it took a casual glance at a membership referral card, sitting on a desk, to get her to enter to win. Heather was with her dad at our Vandercook Branch, helping him with his vehicle loan, when she spotted the referral card.

She asked if she was eligible for the referral, and Shandi, a Member Service Specialist, said she was. So she filled out the card.

It’s a good thing she did, because the few seconds it took to complete the entry won Heather a $500 gas card.

“I have no luck,” she says. “I didn’t think I had a chance.”

Heather says the $500 worth of gas couldn’t come at a better time, now that she has to make trips to the hospital to visit family.

“We can definitely use it now,” Heather, from Jerome, says.

You, too, can enter to win $500 by referring a friend or family member. We’re drawing a new winner each month, plus we’re donating $2 to a local green group for every referral. Drop by any branch to pick up a referral card, or download one off our GreenBack page.

$1,000 winner takes some convincing

When I first called Kim Kirkland, a Grass Lake member, to tell her she had won our $1,000 grand prize drawing for the membership campaign, she didn’t believe me. Kim though it was her daughter, Jessica, playing a prank on her.

“We always play games on each other,” Kim says.

In fact, it took a posting on our blog and a meeting at our Grass Lake branch to convince her otherwise.

And who can blame her? If someone called you and said, “You just won $1,000,” would you believe them? Maybe not.

But an actual $1,000 deposit into an account would change almost anyone’s mind.

For referring her daughter, Kim was put into our “platinum” prize drawing: $1,000 cash just for referring a friend or family member. We called it the “Pass the Torch” campaign, and it’s ending just in time for the Olympics. Every member who referred someone was entered to win. Kim was the lucky one.

“It’s awesome,” she says. “It’s just really…awesome.”

Kim joined American 1 after talking to us at the Grass Lake Expo. She heard about our no-surcharge ATM network, and refinanced her auto loan with us.

“We saved a ton of money,” Kim says.

Kim got her daughter to sign up for American 1’s College and Beyond program. It’s a good thing she did, because that little push earned her $1,000 cash. What will she do with her winnings?

“There’s 101 places to put it,” Kim says, including helping to pay for Jessica’s education.

Congratulations to Kim, and to Patricia Dunham, who was our July “bronze medal” $25 cash winner (right).

From here on out, we’re giving away a $500 gas card to one lucky member who refers someone to American 1. It could be you!

Two membership winners for June.

American 1 membership winner

Last month was kind of a milestone: we had a Silver and a Bronze winner for our membership referral contest.

Alexis R. of Jackson (above) came in to open an account with her friend, Emily, and entered her name as the referral on a whim. As luck would have it, Alexis was picked as our $25 dollar winner in June.

“I was pretty excited,” Alexis says. “I’ve never won a contest before.”

American 1 $50 winner

Maricela Orozco of Jackson (above, with daughter Alondra) opened up an Eagle Earners account for all three of her kids. The shotgun approach worked, earning her a $50 cash prize.

Congratulations to both of our June membership winners. Only one more drawing to go before our big $1,000 cash prize is awarded, so keep referring new members and the winner could be you.

April membership winner.

American 1's membership winner for April

Keegan C., an American 1 member since 2003, is our April membership “Bronze” winner. Keegan wins $25 cash for referring his son, Logan.

Keegan referred two other people, and now has three chances to win our $1,000 cash prize in July. How did Keegan feel about that?

“Hey, free money,” he said.

Congratulations Keegan!
